Motorcycle Accident Caused By Unsafe Lane Change
According to news sources, a sheriff’s deputy that crashed his motorcycle into a pickup truck Monday was attempting to avoid the vehicle after it made an unsafe lane change at the time of the accident.
The California Highway Patrol said that the 35-year-old deputy was thrown off his motorcycle when he collided with a pickup truck making an unsafe turn near Cook Street and St. James Place. The motorcycle smashed into a utility trailer being towed by the pickup truck.
He was taken to an area hospital for treatment after he sustained major injures. The deputy reportedly broke a collarbone, several ribs as well as a partially deflated lung as a result of the collision.
The 41-year-old driver of the truck escaped without injury. Police said that as of Monday he was not arrested nor cited.
