Woman Crashes Into Tree, Vehicle Overturns Comments Off

According to news sources, a woman was involved in an accident Sunday morning on Highway 49 after she car hit a tree and overturned.

The woman was driving a Lexus on Highway 49 near Brunswick Road when her vehicle apparently hit a tree and overturned, according to California Highway Patrol.

Officials responding to the scene of the crash found that the car was sitting against the center divider and overturned.

The accident caused the blockage of that section of Highway 49 for about 15 minutes or so until authorities were reportedly able to clear the area.

The woman was injured in the accident and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. She reportedly complained of arm and head pain as a result of the crash.

Woman Run Over By Big Rig On 710 Freeway Comments Off

According to news sources, a woman was killed Monday when the motorcycle she was riding crashed into a vehicle on the freeway, ejecting her towards the pavement where she was subsequently run over by a big rig.

The accident occurred Monday when the 41-year-old woman, who was a passenger on the 2004 Harley Davidson being driven by a 46-year-old male who was reportedly speeding and making unsafe turns at the time of the accident, according to a California Highway Patrol officer.

The motorcycle was reportedly straddled in between two lanes trying to pass a Nissan on the first lane and a big rig traveling on the second lane. A collision subsequently took place with the right rear of the Nissan, causing the driver and the passenger to be ejected from the motorcycle.

The woman was killed when she was reportedly run over by the big rig. The driver of the motorcycle is currently in serious condition.

Motorcycle Officer Injured In Crash Comments Off

According to news sources, a motorcycle officer was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash with a truck.

The officer was just about to leave for a call at around 3:20 p.m. Monday when he reportedly crashed his motorcycle into a pickup truck pulling a small trailer behind it. The pickup truck was reportedly starting to turn onto St. James Place when the motorcycle officer collided with it.

He was thrown off his motorcycle as a result of the collision and sustained major yet not life threatening injuries, according to officials.

The California Highway Patrol is currently investigating the cause of the crash

A CHP news release suggested that the woman was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident and that speed and alcohol were a factor in the accident.

Woman Suspected of DUI In Fatal Car Crash Comments Off

According to news sources, a woman who was suspected of drunken driving was killed in a car crash early this morning when her vehicle veered off the road, rolled over and hit a tree.

The 43-year-old woman was reported to have been driving recklessly on Interstate 80 when she abruptly attempted to change lanes, crashing into the center divider, according to the California Highway Patrol. The woman was driving a 2004 Subaru truck traveling eastbound.

The woman seems to have lost control of the vehicle once it hit the center divider, causing it to drift across three lanes of traffic before finally hitting the shoulder of the road. The vehicle then overturned, with the roof slamming into a tree.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Alcohol seems to have been a factor in this accident.

Man Crashes Van, Steals CHP Cruiser Comments Off

According to news sources, a California Highway Patrol deputy responding to a report involving a crashed vehicle had his cruiser stolen after the driver of the crashed vehicle sped off in the cruiser.

The white van involved in a crash Saturday was reported to have ran off the road near Sanger. A CHP deputy responding to the call arrived at the scene when the driver of the white van reportedly started to aggressively approach him. The deputy then seems to have exited the vehicle to defend himself but and left the CHP cruiser on neutral, which caused the vehicle to start rolling down towards the suspect with the door open.

The suspect then apparently was able to get inside the vehicle and drive off before crashing the vehicle about a mile away.

The suspect the fled on foot while CHP officers continue to search for him.

Man Crashes Van Then Steals CHP Cruiser Comments Off

According to news sources, a fatal hit-and-run crash that blocked traffic on Highway 101 in Menlo Park Saturday morning prompted the California Highway Patrol to hold a press conference in an attempt to apprehend the suspect.

A Honda Civic was traveling south on Highway 101 when a pickup truck rear-ended it. The collision caused the vehicle stop in the center lane, where it was reportedly struck by another vehicle, this time a taxicab, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The CHP officer also said that the driver of the Honda was fatally injured in the car crash and was reportedly killed as a result of the collision.

The driver of the pickup truck that caused the crash fled the scene of the accident.

The highway section remained blocked for about three hours until crews were able to clear the wreckage.

Bicyclist Rear-Ended On Highway Dies Comments Off

According to news sources, a bicyclist was killed Sunday afternoon when a vehicle rear-ended him on Highway 113.

The 57-year-old man was traveling northbound on Highway 113 when he was reportedly struck by a vehicle from behind, the California Highway Patrol said.

The vehicle that struck the bicyclist was a Hyundai Tiburon being driven by a 21-year-old.

Witnesses on the scene claim that the bicyclist was riding on the right side of the lane, exactly where bicyclist are supposed to be riding. The man was reported to have been wearing a helmet and a lime-green visibility vest at the time the collision took place.

Witnesses also claim that they did not observe any sudden movements on the part of the bicyclist that would suggest that he swerved onto the vehicles path.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash after sustaining fatal injuries.

Big Rig Crashes Into Truck In Fiery Accident Comments Off

A big rig collided with a pickup truck that drove up onto the roadway in the path of the big rig traveling southbound on Highway 166 Monday morning, according to news sources.

The big rig collided into the broadside of the pickup truck, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The initial collision subsequently led to another big rig carrying propane to crash into the wreckage and reportedly caused a huge fire as a result. The driver of the second big rig was reportedly unable to avoid the damaged vehicles.

The driver of the pickup truck was pronounced dead on the scene of the crash after sustaining fatal injuries.

Both drivers of the big rigs were reportedly not injured in the accident.

Highway 166 was closed for several hours this morning because of the accident.

Suspected DUI Accident Leaves 6 Kids Injured Comments Off

According to news sources, a 31-year-old woman suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol was involved in an accident that left 6 kids injured, two of them in serious condition.

The woman was driving a 2002 Toyota Sequoia SUV near Lancaster when she reportedly drifted off the road, causing the vehicle to roll over and injuring the passengers inside, according to a California Highway Patrol officer.

Four of the six children – with ages ranging from 10 months to 11 years – sustained either minor to moderate injuries in the crash. The remaining two, a 4-year-old girl and a 2-year-old boy, sustained major head injuries with the boy having reportedly a foot amputated.

They were transported to an area hospital for treatment. The driver was under arrest on suspicion of drunken driving. She sustained moderate injuries from the accident.

Suspect Vanishes In High Speed Pursuit Comments Off

According to news sources, a man led authorities on a high speed chase along Interstate 880 disappeared in a vanishing act after police shut down the freeway and discovered that he was no longer in the vehicle.

The chase reportedly began when California Highway Patrol pursued a man driving a reported stolen Dodge van on a high speed chase before losing sight of the suspect, according to a CHP officer.

The suspect was found about an hour later traveling on I-880 when a CHP officer attempted a traffic stop. The driver then reportedly sped off at speeds around 80-100 mph before jumping a curb, crashing into a fence and returning onto the roadway once more.

The CHP then proceeded to shut down the section of the freeway and a SWAT team brought in surrounded the vehicle only to discover later that the suspect was no longer inside.

The suspect apparently managed to exit the vehicle before it hit the dividing wall.
