According to news sources, a man was killed in a single-vehicle collision when he apparently lost control of the vehicle and sent it veering off the roadway before hitting a gravel shoulder and overturning.
The 20-year-old driver was traveling southbound on Highway 101 in Oxnard when the accident took place. He reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to exit the roadway before crashing into multiple objects and then finally overturning, the California Highway Patrol said.
The vehicle came to land about 15 feet below the roadway. The driver was extricated from the vehicle and transported to an area hospital for treatment after sustaining major injuries. He was reportedly wearing a seat belt when the accident took place.
The CHP is currently investigating the accident yet alcohol does not seem to be a factor.
