Fatal Single Vehicle Collision on I-80 Comments Off

According to news sources, a fatal single vehicle accident took place Sunday night when a man reportedly lost control of the vehicle he was driving and sent it veering off the roadway before colliding with a tree.

A 20-year-old was driving a 1994 Ford Escort on Interstate 80 traveling westbound when the accident took place, a California Highway Patrol officer said. The incident occurred when the driver seemingly lost control of the vehicle for unknown reasons, causing the vehicle to veer off the roadway and collide with a tree.

A passenger inside the vehicle at the time was not restrained and sustained fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The driver of the vehicle was transported to an area hospital for treatment of major injuries.

The CHP is currently investigating the cause of the accident.

Fatal Motor Home Accident on Highway 101 Comments Off

According to news sources, a fatal motor home accident took place Saturday night on Highway 101 that left one man dead after losing control of the vehicle possibly due to pre-existing medical conditions.

The incident took place near the Carnadero Creek Bridge when the motor home veered off the roadway, crashing into a guard rail before re-entering the roadway and colliding with a 2003 Toyota, the California Highway Patrol said.

The Toyota was being driven by a 43-year-old woman who sustained moderate injuries in the crash. Two passengers inside that vehicle at the time of the accident reportedly escaped without injury.

The driver of the motor home was pronounced dead at the scene. The CHP is currently investigating the cause of the crash but say that the drivers pre-existing medical conditions may have contributed to the incident.

Fiery CHP Car Accident Leaves Officer Injured Comments Off

According to news sources, an officer was injured in an accident that took place Sunday night on Highway 101 when the cruiser he was driving began to catch fire due to an accident involving the vehicle.

The California Highway Patrol officer was traveling on Highway 101 at speeds of about 75 mph when the accident took place, the CHP said. The officer was reportedly responding to a call to assist another CHP officer in a DUI investigation when the back of the patrol car began sliding to the right. The officer then lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the center median before overturning.

The vehicle then began to catch fire yet the officer managed to exit in time before it was engulfed in flames. The fire caused live ammunition inside the vehicle to discharge.

The officer was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Train Crashes Into Dump Truck Comments Off

According to news sources, a train collided with a dumb truck Monday afternoon in an accident that left both sustaining extensive damage and the driver of the truck injured in the crash.

The incident took place on Road 60 east of Avenue 308 when a truck being driven by a 25-year-old man approached the train tracks at speeds of about 55 mph, while the train itself was traveling at speeds of about 20 mph at the time, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

As the train crew approached the intersection they blared the train horn, yet the driver of the truck reportedly claims that he failed to notice the oncoming train until the last minute.

The collision caused the trains fuel engine to crack, causing about 2,000 gallons of diesel to spill at the scene of the crash.

Suspect Arrested After Stealing Park Ranger SUV Comments Off

According to news sources, a suspect was reportedly arrested Monday when he was stopped by rangers after allegedly driving a stolen vehicle.

The incident took place in north Los Angeles when rangers at the Hungry Valley State Park attempted to arrest the suspect in a traffic stop after discovering that the vehicle he was driving matched a stolen vehicle, the California Highway Patrol said.

A woman in the vehicle was reportedly handcuffed and left in the park ranger SUV when a second suspect somehow jumped into the vehicle and sped off.

There were shots reportedly fired as the suspect allegedly attempted to strike a ranger.

The vehicle then stopped on the freeway after sideswiping other vehicles on the roadway. CHP officers approached the vehicle and apprehended the handcuffed woman. The man was injured and transported to an area hospital for treatment.

There were no other injuries or collisions reported.

Driver Arrested After Stealing Vehicle Comments Off

According to news sources, a man was arrested Friday night while driving a vehicle that had been stolen a day earlier. Authorities spotted the vehicle due to the drivers reportedly erratic and reckless driving on the roadway.

The 25-year-old man was allegedly driving a stolen 1988 Chevrolet Cavalier on Foothill Boulevard and Cornishon Avenue, according to authorities. The vehicle had been reported stolen the day before by the California Highway Patrol.

The man was reportedly driving recklessly, failing to stop at a red light and subsequently traveling on the wrong side of the road. The man was spotted by deputies, who ran the license plate and discovered that the vehicle matched the reported stolen vehicle.

The man was arrested by officials and booked into Crescenta Valley Station.

There were no injuries or collisions reported.

Three Injured In DUI Suspected Accident Comments Off

According to news sources, a teenager was arrested Sunday after allegedly driving under the influence and driving through a stop light. The incident resulted in a two-vehicle collision that left three people injured.

The 19-year-old teenager was allegedly driving under the influence, traveling southbound on Zediker Avenue, the California Highway Patrol said. The teenage driver then proceeded to drive through a stop sign when an oncoming truck traveling eastbound struck the vehicle on the passengers side.

A passenger inside the vehicle at the time of the collision sustained major injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. The teenage driver was treated for minor injuries and subsequently released to be taken into custody. The driver of the truck sustained minor injures.

The CHP is investigating the crash. No other injuries or collisions were reported.

Woman Dies After Being Struck By Teenager on Roadway Comments Off

According to news sources, a woman reportedly walking on the roadway Sunday night was killed in an accident when vehicle being driven by a teenager struck her.

The 16-year-old teenager was driving a 2004 GMC Yukon XL northbound on Silverado Trail at night when he struck the woman, the California Highway Patrol said. The woman was reportedly dressed in dark clothing and landed about 60 feet away from the point of impact.

The driver of the vehicle then proceeded to stop oncoming traffic from hitting the woman in an attempt to help her. She sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

The teenage driver was reportedly uninjured in the crash. The woman’s identity is being withheld pending notification of her next of kin.

Teenager Arrested For Grand Theft Auto Comments Off

According to news sources, a teenager was arrested Saturday night after carjacking a vehicle and reportedly crashing on the roadway. The teenager was later found in a nearby field hiding under a tree.

The incident took place when the 18-year-old teenager pulled out a handgun and car-jacked a vehicle being driven by a 20-year-old woman while she was reportedly attempting to park her car, the California Highway Patrol said.

The man then crashed the vehicle on Highway 80 and CHP officers on the scene determined that the crashed vehicle was the reported stolen car. The CHP then utilized a helicopter and a canine unit to locate the suspect, who was hiding under a tree in a field near the crashed vehicle.

The man was then taken to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries sustained in the crash.

Fatal Oasis Accident Leaves One Dead, Four Injured Comments Off

According to news sources, one person was dead and another four injured in an accident Friday morning when a vehicle reportedly failed to stop at a stop sign in Oasis.
