Two Teens Dead In Suspected DUI Crash Comments Off

According to news sources, two teenagers were killed in an accident that took place Saturday night near Commerce Center Drive when the vehicle they were in veered off the roadway and landed on a hillside.

The accident took place on Hasley Canyon Road when he a 28-year-old man driving a 1999 Ford Escort lost control of the vehicle on the roadway, the California Highway Patrol said. The roadway was reportedly slick at the time due to rainfall, the CHP said.

The vehicle exited the roadway and went through a wooden fence, crashed into a tree and subsequently landed on the hillside.

The CHP suspects that the driver of the vehicle to have been allegedly drinking and driving. Two teenage passengers sitting in the back seat of the vehicle were reportedly pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Fiery Big Rig Accident Leaves Two Dead Comments Off

According to news sources, two people were killed in an accident Saturday night when their vehicle reportedly failed to stop at an intersection and was subsequently struck by a big rig. The incident caused the big rig to be set ablaze due to the collision.

The accident took place when a big rig truck traveling northbound on Grapefruit Boulevard crashed into a Hyundai traveling eastbound on Avenue 62,  the California Highway Patrol said. Witnesses at the scene of the crash told authorities that the Hyundai reportedly failed to make a complete stop prior to entering the intersection. As a result, the big rig truck struck the passengers side of the vehicle, resulting in a fiery blaze that consumed the big rig truck.

Two people inside the Hyundai were killed at the scene of the crash, the CHP said. The driver of the big rig escaped the incident without injury.

One Dead, Two Seriously Injured In Solo-Accident Comments Off

According to news sources, one woman was killed and two people seriously injured in an accident Saturday night when the driver reportedly lost control of a vehicle due to falling asleep behind the wheel.

The man was traveling on Interstate 5 north of Merced Avenue when the accident took place. The man reportedly allowed the vehicle to drift towards the center median after falling asleep behind the wheel, the California Highway Patrol said. The incident reportedly woke the man up and resulted in him over-correcting and the vehicle exiting the roadway after flipping over.

A 21-year-old woman was killed in the accident after being ejected from the vehicle. Another 21-year-old woman was reportedly seriously injured in the crash while the driver sustained moderate injuries.

Ortega Highway Accident Leaves One Dead, One Injured Comments Off

According to news sources, a woman was killed and man seriously injured in a car crash Friday morning on Ortega Highway after their vehicle veered off the roadway and collided with a tree. The man, who was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident, was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter.

The 18-year-old male driver was traveling westbound on Ortega Highway in a Ford F-150 when the accident took place. He vehicle veered off the roadway towards the right hand shoulder before crashing into the tree.

The 45-year-old woman passenger in the vehicle was killed after sustaining fatal injuries in the crash. The driver sustained major injuries and was transported to Mission Hospital and subsequently arrested, the California Highway Patrol said.

There were no other injuries or collisions associated with the accident.

Vehicle Crashes Into Motorcycle In Fatal Collision Comments Off

According to news sources, a motorcyclist was killed in an accident Friday morning when a vehicle on the roadway near Basilone Road drifted out of control and struck him.

A 23-year-old man was driving a 2003 Nissan 350Z on Interstate 5 Friday morning traveling northbound when for as of yet unknown reasons he reportedly lost control of the vehicle and sent drifting onto the road median, the California Highway Patrol said.

The incident led to the vehicle striking a 49-year-old male motorcyclist on the roadway riding a 2004 Harley Davidson motorcycle. The man was reportedly ejected from the motorcycle and landed on the roadway, sustaining fatal injuries, the CHP said.

The accident caused delays for at least half an hour and traffic congested backups on the roadway.

Avastin Breast Cancer Drug Approval Revoked By FDA Comments Off

According to news sources, the approval of the drug Avastin has been revoked by The Food and Drug Administration after it was deemed to ineffective and unsafe for treatment of metastatic breast cancer.

The FDA announced the revocation of its approval of the drug after the drug was approved under the FDA’s accelerated approval program, which allows for certain drugs to be released for patient access while ongoing clinical trials take place.

Recall: GMC and Chevrolet Vehicles Due To Faulty Air Bags Comments Off

According to news sources, about 1,798 2012 GMC Savana and Chevrolet Express vans made by General Motors have been recalled due to faulty air bags that may not inflate in the case of a severe frontal collision.

The recalled vehicles, the 2012 GMC Savana and the Chevrolet Express vans, were recalled after it was found that the vehicles had faulty airbags which in turn did not pass the safety requirements for occupant safety created by the NHTSA.

The recalled vehicles have been made by General Motors from June through October.

Santa Clara Woman Seriously Injured In Crash Comments Off

According to news sources, a Santa Clara woman was seriously injured in an accident Thursday that took place on Highway 101 when she exited the vehicle and was struck by a driver suspected of driving under the influence.

The 27-year-old woman exited the vehicle while on the roadway after she reportedly felt car sick and wanted to relieve her nausea. At that point, a man driving a Honda Civic allegedly under the influence crashed into a stopped vehicle on the roadway and moments later struck the woman, the California Highway Patrol said.

The woman sustained major injuries in the collision and was transported to an area hospital for treatment of her injuries, the CHP said.

One Dead In Two-Car Collision In Yuba County Comments Off

According to news sources, a woman was killed in a two-vehicle collision Thursday evening when a van on the roadway reportedly turned in the pathway of the vehicle she was riding.

The 76-year-old woman was a passenger inside a Toyota being driven by a 75-year-old man traveling westbound on Highway 20. The accident took place when a van being driven a 55-year-old man allegedly driving under the influence turned onto its pathway, the California Highway Patrol said.

Both vehicles ended up colliding head-on, the CHP said.

The woman died at the scene of the crash while the driver of the Toyota sustained moderate injuries in the crash. The driver of the van sustained minor injuries and was reportedly arrested on suspicion of felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter.

There were no other reported injuries or collisions associated with the accident.

Single Vehicle Accident Leaves Woman Injured Comments Off

According to news sources, a single-vehicle car crash Thursday afternoon left one woman injured after she reportedly lost control of the vehicle and sen it veering off the roadway before colliding with a tree.

The 83-year-old woman was driving a Toyota traveling westbound on Highway 150 when the accident took place, a California Highway Patrol officer said. The vehicle left the roadway, went about 8 feet down an embankment and subsequently crashed into a tree.

A passerby at the scene of the crash was able to alert a patrolling CHP officer. The woman was pinned inside the vehicle and complained of difficulty breathing. At that point, due to the windows being rolled up and the doors locked, the CHP officer proceeded to break the rear window glass to enter the vehicle and extricate the woman.

She was transported to Santa Barbra Cottage Hospital for treatment while the officer was treated on the scene for cuts sustained during the incident.

The CHP is investigating the accident.
