According to news sources, a woman was injured and taken to a hospital in an accident Thursday night on Highway 49 after she reportedly failed to stop in backed up traffic and ended up crashing into a semi-truck on the roadway.
The 65-year-old woman was driving a 2004 Honda Odyssey heading southbound on the roadway when the accident took place, the California Highway Patrol said. A semi-truck vehicle being driven by a 59-year-old man was reportedly attempting to turn onto Young American Mine Road when the woman failed to sufficiently slow down her vehicle and ended up crashing into the semi-truck.
The woman was wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision. She sustained minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
The CHP has determined that alcohol was not a factor in the accident.
