Maryland Car Chase Reaches Speeds of 108 Mph
An action-packed car chase on Wednesday was brought to a close when officers used a spike strip to bring a rampaging vehicle to a halt in northern Maryland.
It all began when a Chrysler sedan was pulled over going north on Interstate 95 in Perryville. After coming to a stop, the sedan accelerated and the chase commenced. The suspect and officers reached a speed of 108 miles per hour as the fleeing vehicle made multiple attempts to careen his car into various police automobiles, forcing the officers to use evasive maneuvers.
The chase took officers into Delaware before ending in Elkton, Maryland, where a trooper laid down a spike strip to stop the vehicle. The suspect bore down on the officer, who had to jump over a guard rail to avoid being hit by the car, said a spokesman for the police.
After chasing the suspect through the woods, he was apprehended and found with heroine and marijuana in his possession.
As a Sacramento car accident attorney, it seems every day there’s someone out there who tries to escape the cops, piling up worse consequences and violations of the law at every juncture. Even as a car accident attorney in Sacramento, I never cease to be amazed by how wild these chases can become.
