Honda Spare Tire Mislabeling Leads to Recall
Honda is stating that the spare tires installed in their Ridgeline vehicles between the dates of August 25, 2011 and November 29, 2011 do not match the information on the vehicle’s tire information placard. As such, these tires are being recalled.
The years affected are the 2011 and 2012 models. 206 vehicles fall under the purview of the recall.
The mislabeling means that the vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 110, which concerns vehicles tires and rims. Because the label is incorrect, the tire may not be inflated correctly, increasing the risk of a crash.
A notification will be sent by Honda to owners. Affected consumers can take their car into a dealer and if the problem is found it will be fixed by Honda for free by replacing either the information placard or the spare tire assembly itself.
As a car accident attorney in San Francisco, I know how critical every part of the vehicle is in ensuring a safe commute. Consumers rely on every piece of equipment to function properly, and if even a single piece has a defect, it can be catastrophic. As a San Francisco personal injury lawyer, I hope everyone who owns the vehicle in question gets the problem corrected before harm can be done.
