Pedestrian Crossing SR-54 Freeway Fatally Struck
According to news sources, a pedestrian was killed Thursday while crossing State Route 54 as she was reportedly struck by two vehicles traveling on the roadway.
The 23-year-old woman was reportedly crossing the freeway near Reo Drive when a 2008 Honda being driven by a 27-year-old woman struck her, the California Highway Patrol said. After being knocked to the ground, another vehicle on the roadway struck the woman once again, the CHP said.
The woman was transported to an area hospital where she was reportedly pronounced dead. There were also multiple minor crashes that took place on the roadway as a result of the incident.
The CHP is investigating the cause of the incident.
