Fuel leak potential sparks Crossroads recreational vehicle recall

Posted on: 05-4-2012 Posted in: Product Recall, Safety

Crossroads Recreational Vehicle Manufacturing Incorporated has announced a voluntary recall for 24 of its Elevation Recreational Vehicles manufactured between November 2011 and February 2012. At the request of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, due to an improperly installed on board auxiliary fuel storage tank. Specific units of these model year 2012 recreational vehicles, may have been equipped with on board auxiliary fuel tanks that are situated higher than allows the operator to completely fill the fuel tank safely. The tank may become filled past capacity, causing the fuel level to rise past the tank’s opening, potentially causing an explosion or fire risk that might result in serious injury or death. Consumers with questions about this recall can contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Vehicle safety hotline and reference NHSTA campaign identification number 12V187000. Crossroads Recreational Vehicle Manufacturing Incorporated plans to begin notifying the owners of recreational vehicles affected by this recall in the near future. Owners of affected recreational vehicles can return them to authorized dealerships where the fuel tank mounting brackets will be correctly reinstalled for free.

As a car accident attorney in Burlingame, I am hopeful that this recall is carried out successfully in order to reduce the risks of damage caused by this potential safety issue. If you or someone you love has been injured in an accident, please consider contacting a personal injury lawyer in Burlingame.
