Ford Winstars recalled due to manufacturing defect

Posted on: 05-10-2012 Posted in: car safety, Product Recall

The Ford Motor Company has announced a voluntary recall for approximately 23,000 Windstar minivans due to a potential safety hazard that could cause an auto accident at the request of the United States National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. This recall has been issued due to the potential that the rear attaching brackets and body mount attachments supporting the front lower control arm may corrode over time affects model year 1999 through 2003 Windstar vehicles registered or originally sold in the state of Virginia,. This condition can lead to the front lower control arm becoming separated from the vehicle’s frame. If both front subframe rear body mounts become detached, the steering intermediate shaft may become detached from the frame additionally, leading to a greater risk that the driver may lose control of the vehicle and be unable to prevent the vehicle from becoming involved in a traffic accident that could result in severe injury or even fatalities. Consumers seeking more information on this recall can contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Vehicle Safety Hotline. Owners of affected automobiles can return them to authorized Ford dealerships where this condition will be repaired for free.

As a San Jose car accident attorney, I hope that this recall is successfully carried out before anyone is injured by this potential safety issue. If you or someone you love has been injured in a traffic collision, please consider contacting a personal injury lawyer in San Jose.
