Brake failure risk prompts Anderson trailer recall
Due to a potential equipment break down, Anderson Manufacturing Incorporated has announced a voluntary recall for four of its Gooseneck trailers. This recall comes at the request of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in response to consumer complaints that the Dexter brand electric hydraulic brake actuator pumps installed in the Anderson gooseneck trailers involved with this recall may have been inadequately heat treated during production, leading to a possible loss of durability and early breakdown. Components necessary to the brake actuator pump’s continued functioning may fail unexpectedly during routine use. The electric hydraulic brake actuator pump supplies the power to the trailer’s braking system and the pump’s malfunction can lead to break failure and an increased danger that the trailer will become involved in a traffic collision. Customers affected by this recall can return their faulty equipment to authorized dealers of Dexter auto components, where the pumps will be replaced at no cost to the consumer. Customers may obtain more information about this recall by calling the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Vehicle Safety Hotline and reference campaign identification number 12V204000.The trailer models affected by this recall include the following: model year 2011 Anderson MFG G82510TW, model year 2008 Anderson MFG G84012TC, and model year 2011 Anderson G84012TW. Anderson plans to begin notifying owners of affected trailer models of the potentially dangerous safety issue in the near future.
