Pickup Truck Crash Along Highway 101 Near Sausalito Claims Life
Another single vehicle crash claimed a life along California roads yesterday.
This time, the incident took place at around 5:30 in the morning near Sausalito. A Dodge Dakota was headed north along Highway 101. The accident occurred when the vehicle approached the on-ramp leading to Sausalito-Marin City.
For reasons that have yet to be determined by authorities, the truck veered to the right. Its course took it off the highway and onto the aforementioned on-ramp. The vehicle crashed into a guardrail placed along the side of the freeway and kept on going. It then careened into a chain link fence, but still wasn’t done. The vehicle continued onward until it crashed into a drainage canal near the highway.
The truck sustained damage that was being described by officials as minor or moderate, and there weren’t any skid marks near the crash site that would have suggested the brakes were applied in an attempt to ward off disaster. Officers pronounced the driver of the truck dead at the scene of the accident. Officials with the California Highway Patrol are investigating the possibility that the driver may have experienced some sort of medical event prior to the crash.
