Freezer pack recall expanded due to potentially toxic leakage
In cooperation with a request from the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, California Innovations Incorporated has expanded the voluntary recall of its freezer gel packs to include an estimated 880,000 product units, including approximately 248,000 freezer packs included in lunchboxes and approximately 55,000 cold packs in food carriers. Cryofreeze ice/hot packs and Arctic Zone ice packs, which are gel filled opaque or transparent sealed pouches, sold individually or included in food carriers and lunchboxes. The Cryofreeze ice/ hot packs come in two sizes: a 6 inch by 5.5 inch variety and a larger 8.5 inch by 8 inch design. These packs have the words “Cryofreeze,” “Ice Pack/Hot Pack,” “Non-toxic” and “Reusable” printed on the front. Cryofreeze Transparent Cell ice/hot packs come in three styles: a three cell pack of three connected rectangular-shaped pouches filled with blue gel and 7.85 inches wide by 5.5 inches high, a three cell pack of three connected square-shaped pouches filled with blue gel and 7.6 inches wide by 3 inches high, and a a two cell pack of two connected square-shaped pouches of blue gel that is 5 inches wide by 3 inches high. The Arctic Zone ice pack is 6.25 inches wide by 4 inches high with an opaque blue wrapper with the Arctic Zone logo and a picture of an iceberg on the front of the wrapper. The words “ICE,” “Personal Ice Pack” and “Non-Toxic Leak Proof Gel” are also printed on the front of the wrapper.
