Fire, shock hazard concerns prompt Big Lots space heater recall

Big Lots, an Ohio-based company, is recalling two models of the Climate Keeper brand Portable Ceramic Space Heaters. The product number for affected space heater models is ETL 3130679, with model numbers #FH107A and #PTC-902T. Both models of space heater included in this recall are equipped with a fan, two control knobs, a wire mesh panel in front and the name Climate Keeper imprinted on a label on the bottom with the model number and ETL 3130679. Model number FH107A can be distinguished by its gray plastic housing unit, and Model number PTC-902T is an oscillating heater distinguished by its silver-gray plastic housing, and it features a molded handle at the top of the heater with a small extra button between the two dials to control the oscillation.The 1500 watt grey heaters are being recalled because they can overheat and melt, causing a fire or electrical hazard. This recall has been announced by the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission with the cooperation of the distributor. These space heaters were manufactured in China before they were imported for exclusive sale in Big Lots stores nationwide. The heaters were sold from September 2010 to March 2012 at Big Lots stores throughout the United States at an estimated average price of $20 for the FH107A model unit and $25 for the PTC-902T model unit.More information regarding this recall can be obtained by calling the Big Lots customer service department.
