International Navistar trucks recalled due to injury, accident hazard

Posted on: 06-29-2012 Posted in: Big Rig Accident, Product Recall

At the request of the United States National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a voluntary recall has been announced affecting more than 1,200 International/Durastar trucks that were manufactured between February 12, 2012 and March 19, 2012. This safety recall has been announced by Navistar Incorporated due to the possibility that the windshields and the backlight glass were installed in these vehicles without primer seal. If this primer seal has not properly applied, it may cause the windshield and/or backlight glass to separate from the cab causing personal injury or even death to the occupant or others sharing the road with this potential hazard. Owners of vehicles included in this recall will be notified of the potential safety issue by Navistar in the near future. Vehicles included in this recall can  be returned to authorized dealerships where they will be inspected and if necessary repaired by licensed auto mechanics at no cost to the consumer. The trucks included in this recall are model year 2013 International Durastar Trucks equipped with cab codes 16030 or 16AAK. If the backlight glass and windshield installed on this truck has not been affixed to the vehicle frame with primer seal, they may become detached over time with routine use. If the glass becomes detached while the vehicle is in motion, it may cause a road hazard to other vehicles on the road and increase the likelihood that an accident causing serious injury or death will occur. Navistar has designated this safety recall as campaign number 12519.
