New Jersey strengthens its distracted driver penalties
New Jersey has toughened its laws concerning distracted drivers. Due to new measures being passed, distracted drivers face up to 10 years in jail and may be charged with assault or vehicular manslaughter. Fines for using a cell phone while driving have been doubled. The name of the measure passed, Kulesh, Kubert and Bolis’ Law, which comes from the names of victims of distracted driving related auto collisions.
