Safety agency offers firefighters special electric car training
Ohio firefighters will receive new training from the National Fire Protection Agency designed to warn them of the specific dangers they face when responding to situations involving electric and hybrid vehicles. One myth the agency hopes to refute is the rumor that a firefighter can be electrocuted if he or she touches an electric car submerged in water. Another danger presented by electric and hybrid cars is posed by their quieter engines, which may not alert emergency responders on an accident scene that the vehicle is still running.
