One myth the agency hopes to refute is the rumor that a firefighter can be electrocuted if he or she touches an electric car submerged in water. Another danger presented by electric and hybrid cars is posed by their quieter engines, which may not alert emergency responders on an accident scene that the vehicle is still running.
