New Jersey cracks down on distracted driving accidents
A law signed by Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno could allow manslaughter charges in car accidents caused by distracted driving. The legislation imposes tougher penalties on drivers involved in accidents from distracted drivings. This New Jersey law allows an individual to be charged with assault or vehicular manslaughter if the driver was using a cell phone. If charged with vehicular manslaughter, the driver could face up to 10 years in prison.
