Town’s all-inclusive distracted driving law may be impractical
Some safety experts argue that distracted driving laws currently enforced in many states focus on cellular phones and text messaging, but there are other equally risky distracting behavior not included in the legislation. Officials in one city have proposed an ordinance that prohibits all forms of distracted driving behavior, but some detractors argue that the is too vague and far reaching, leading to confusion as to what’s prohibited. Others predict the ban would only cause drivers to make more effort to hide potentially prohibited activities from law enforcement officers.
