Fatal Collision Possibly Due To Hit-and-Run Comments Off

According to news sources, a woman driving a vehicle that was involved in a fatal accident Monday that caused the death of a male passenger may have been clipped by a hit-and-run motorist before losing control of the vehicle and colliding with a car on the roadway.

The 20-year-old woman was driving a 1999 BMW on Interstate 15 when the accident took place, a California Highway Patrol officer said. The roadways were wet at the time when the woman reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to spin before colliding with another vehicle in the opposite lane. A passenger inside the BMW at the time died at the scene.

Evidence of a tire rub mark on the BMW may corroborate the woman’s statement, which would eliminate her from fault and make the cause of the incident a felony hit-and-run instead.

Anyone with information regarding the incident should contact the CHP at 858-637-3800.

11 Text Messages Sent And Received Before Fatal Crash Comments Off

According to news sources, a total of 11 text messages were sent and received by a teenage driver in a period of about 11 minutes before he reportedly crashed into a vehicle on the roadway, resulting in the death of two people including himself, as well as the injury of 38 other people.

Federal investigators said that a total of 11 text messages were sent and received by the driver immediately prior to the fatal collision that took place in Missouri last year. The distracted driver was unable to focus on the roadway ahead due to texting while driving and ended up rear-ending a school bus, which began a fatal chain collision. There are many dangers associated with texting and driving. Here are some tips to keep you safe on the roadway.

- Download an auto respond app if you have a smart phone, it will notify callers that you are driving and will get back to them soon.

- Have someone text for you if you have a passenger in the car.

- Pull over only when it is safe to do so.

- Use headsets to ensure both hands are free to operate the vehicle.

- Know that texting while driving is against the law in many states and leads to distracted driving

As a Los Angeles personal injury attorney, I find this information beneficial to motorists and pedestrians alike. I have seen many instances of distracted driving cause severe devastation both to those who participate in activities such as texting while driving, as well as those who are victims of crashes caused by distracted drivers. As a Los Angeles car accident attorney, I hope that this information will lead to safer roads.
