Three Injured In SR-67 Collision Comments Off

According to news sources, three people were injured in a two-vehicle accident Wednesday when a pickup truck attempting to make a three-point turn on State Route 67 ended up colliding with another vehicle on the roadway.

The accident took place near Archie Moore Road when the driver of a pickup truck heading northbound on SR 67 reportedly decided to make a three-point turn to avoid backed up traffic on the roadway, the California Highway Patrol said. The incident resulted in the pickup truck colliding with a Ford Explorer heading southbound, the CHP said.

The two occupants of the Explorer, along with the driver of the pickup truck, were transported to an area hospital for treatment.

There were no other injuries or collisions reported.

Woman Dies In Spring Garden Accident Comments Off

According to news sources, one woman died and a man was injured in a single-vehicle accident Thursday morning that took place when the woman reportedly lost control of the vehicle she was driving on Highway 70, causing it to exit the roadway and overturn.

The 37-year-old woman was driving a 2007 Honda Accord heading westbound on Highway 70 in Spring Garden in reportedly icy conditions when she lost control of the vehicle as she approached a left curve, the California Highway Patrol said. The vehicle then began to spin and continued to rotate until it exited the roadway, dropping about 15 feet.

A male passenger in the vehicle sustained injuries in the crash and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. The woman died at the scene of the crash.

The CHP is currently investigating the incident.

Fatal Single Vehicle Accident In Sonoma County Comments Off

According to news sources, a man was killed in a single-vehicle crash on New Year’s day in Sonoma County after he reportedly lost control of the vehicle he was driving, causing it to drift off the roadway and roll over several times down an embankment.

The 24-year-old man was driving a Ford F-250 pickup truck heading eastbound on State Route 116 when he reportedly lost control of the vehicle, the California Highway Patrol said. The incident caused the vehicle to drift off the roadway where it crashed into a guardrail and subsequently began overturning down an embankment.

The driver was ejected from the vehicle as it rolled down the embankment. He was reportedly not wearing a seat belt at the time, the CHP said.

The CHP is currently investigating the accident.

Single Vehicle Crash Leaves One Dead, One Critically Injured Comments Off

According to news sources, one man was killed and another man critically injured in a single-vehicle crash near Los Banos when a man suspected of driving under the influence reportedly over corrected on the roadway and caused the vehicle to overturn.

A 27-year-old man was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado on Santa Fe Grade when the vehicle reportedly began to drift towards the right shoulder of the roadway, the California Highway Patrol said. The Silverado was traveling at about 55-60 mph when the man reportedly overcorrected to the left, causing the vehicle to overturn on the roadway and come to rest on its roof.

A 29-year-old passenger in the vehicle at the time died at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle sustained major injuries and was transported to an area hospital. He was reportedly arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

According to news sources, one man was killed in a fatal collision Tuesday afternoon on State Route 78 when he reportedly failed to yield at a stop sign  and was struck by an oncoming vehicle on the roadway.

The accident took place near Ash Street on SR 78 when a 73-year-old man riding a scooter heading southound on the roadway reportedly failed to yield at a stop sign and was subsequently struck by an oncoming vehicle, the California Highway Patrol. The vehicle was heading westbound at the time.

The man was reportedly pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

The collision caused the closure of the roadway for about two hours.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the collision and a passenger both reportedly escaped the accident without injury.

DUI Suspect Crashes Pickup on Highway 175 Comments Off

According to news sources, a man suspected of driving under the influence Tuesday was seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash after the vehicle veered across the roadway before colliding with two trees.

The pickup then proceeded to crash into a tree and continued to collide head-on with a second tree on the roadway. The man was traveling at unknown speeds at the time of the crash. The man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. He was seriously injured in the crash and airlifted to an area hospital for treatment.

Pacific Power Employee Injured, Utility Truck Stolen Comments Off

According to news sources, a Pacific Power utility truck lineman repairing a power line was seriously injured Friday morning in Siskiyou County after falling about 25 feet while in the truck’s elevated bucket due to a woman reportedly driving off in the truck.

The incident took place as the lineman inside the elevated bucket worked on repairing a power pole, at which point a woman reportedly came into the truck, a Ford F550, and began starting the engine, the California Highway Patrol said. At that point, the worker attempted to prevent her by using a remote switch but the woman eventually succeeded in starting the engine and subsequently drove off.

The incident caused the worker to fall 25 feet to the ground, sustaining major injuries as a result. The man was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Anyone with information regarding the suspect is urged to contact the CHP at 530-841-6000. The company, Pacific Power, is also offering a $10,000 reward for information resulting in the arrest of the suspect and the return of the company vehicle.

Pedestrian Dies In Highway 50 Accident Comments Off

According to news sources, a pedestrian was killed in an accident Sunday afternoon after being struck by two vehicles on Highway 50 in the Sierra Nevada.

The 21-year-old man was in the left eastbound lane of Highway 50 just across the state line in Nevada when the accident took place. The man was reportedly walking on the roadway at the time when a California Highway Patrol Ford Expedition crashed into him. The CHP officer driving the vehicle reportedly attempted to avoid collision but was unsuccessful. The impact pushed the man into westbound lanes, where he was struck by a shuttle bus on the roadway.

The man reportedly died at the scene of the crash.

Crash Leaves 5 Injured, Including Two Children Comments Off

According to news sources, a single-vehicle accident took place Saturday when a vehicles tire reportedly blew out while traveling on Temecula Valley (15) Freeway, causing it to crash into the guardrail and overturn.

The vehicle was traveling in the middle lane of the freeway heading southbound near Murrieta Hot Springs when its tire reportedly blew out, preliminary reports indicated. The vehicle was traveling at about 70 mph when the incident took place, causing it to slam into a guardrail before overturning, the California Highway Patrol said. The vehicle ended up being in the middle of the center divider, nestled on its roof between two guardrails.

The guardrail reportedly prevented the vehicle from veering onto northbound lanes and making the situation even worst, the CHP said.

Two children and three adults were transported to area hospitals for treatment of serious injuries.

Weather A Factor In Fatal Milpitas Solo Crash Comments Off

According to news sources, a single-vehicle accident left one man dead Friday morning when he reportedly lost control of the vehicle on Highway 237 in Milpitas possibly due to rainy conditions.

The 52-year-old man was driving a 1991 Toyota heading westbound on highway 237 when he reportedly lost control of the vehicle, the California Highway Patrol said. The man was traveling at about 35 mph at the time when the vehicle crashed and ended up flipping on its roof. The weather was reportedly cloudy, rainy and dark, the CHP said.

The man was wearing a seat belt at the time.

The CHP does not believe that alcohol was a factor in the accident. The accident caused the closure of the roadway until it reopened approximately 2 hours later.
