Motorcyclist Crashes, Lands In Dry Creek Comments Off

According to news sources, a motorcyclist was seriously injured but is in stable condition after being involved in a single vehicle accident when he crashed his motorcycle Sunday on Monticello Road.

The accident took place Sunday evening yet the California Highway Patrol is still to determine the exact cause of the crash The CHP has said that it was either a result of excessive speed or an unsafe turn however it has determined that alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

The 44-year-old motorcyclist was airlifted to an area hospital after he landed in a dry creek bed about 30 feet below the roadway he was reportedly traveling on. The man reportedly suffered from a collapsed lung among other injuries sustained during the crash, the CHP said.

Teenage Pedestrian Killed On Highway Comments Off

According to news sources, a teenage pedestrian reportedly walking on the center median on Highway 101 was killed when she was struck by a vehicle traveling on the roadway.

The accident took place early Sunday when the teenager was walking in an as of yet unknown direction, attempting to cross the roadway, the California Highway Patrol said. It has not been determined why the teenager was walking on the freeway to begin with

A 26-year-old was driving southbound on the roadway at speeds of about 65 mph when he struck the teenage woman, the CHP said. The driver of the vehicle was reportedly unable to slow down to avoid collision.

The teenage woman was died at the scene of the accident.

The CHP is currently investigating the accident.

Suspected DUI In Fatal Muscle Car Accident Comments Off

According to news sources, a passenger riding a muscle car was killed Sunday in an accident after the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle and caused it to overturn. The passenger was ejected from the vehicle.

The 42-year-old man suspected of DUI was driving the 1970′s Plymouth Barracuda out of a driveway and overturned the vehicle about a few hundred feet away, a California Highway Patrol spokesperson said.

The accident caused the driver to sustained spinal injuries, while the front passenger sustained moderate injuries. Both were transported to an area hospital for treatment. The third passenger who was sitting in the rear seat was not restrained and was ejected from the vehicle as it overturned. He died at the scene of the crash.

The CHP is currently investigating the cause of the accident.

Man, Son Die In Same Freeway Spot Hours Apart Comments Off

According to news sources, a man and his son died hours apart Thursday after the son was killed in an accident on I-8 early in the day while the father died in a crash later in the afternoon in the same spot.

The son and his mother were involved in an accident earlier in the day that may have been attributed to the mother losing control of the vehicle after a tire failure, the California Highway Patrol said. The son died at the scene while his mother was transported to a hospital for treatment.

The 48-year-old fathers death is being investigated as a suicide, the CHP said. He reportedly intentionally crossed onto opposing traffic on the freeway and collided head-on with another vehicle.

He reportedly died hours later after sustaining fatal injuries.

Man Killed After Being Struck By Vehicle Comments Off

According to news sources, a man died after he was struck by a vehicle while walking on the roadway in the dark very early Monday while reportedly wearing dark clothing.

The 73-year-old Lompoc man was struck by the vehicle near Camarillo, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The 67-year-old driver of the vehicle was driving on Fifth Street when he spotted the man on the roadway and attempted to avoid collision by turning sharply to the left. The right side of the vehicle ended up striking the man. The driver reportedly turned around and stopped to help the man, along with a witness at the scene of the crash. Both stayed until CHP officers arrived.

The pedestrian was reportedly pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. It is yet to be known why the man was walking on the road.

The CHP is currently investigating the crash.

Pedestrian Sustains Moderate Injuries In San Andreas Comments Off

According to news sources, a pedestrian sustained moderate injuries Wednesday when he was hit by a vehicle traveling on the Highway 49 in San Andreas.

The 47-year-old male pedestrian reportedly walked in front of the vehicle for unknown reasons on the highway when he was struck, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The 51-year-old woman driving the Ford that struck the man was traveling southbound on the highway when the man reportedly appeared suddenly in her pathway, the CHP said.

The woman attempted to avoid collision by slamming on her brakes but was unsuccessful and struck the man, a CHP officer said. He sustained moderate injuries as a result of the impact and was transported to Mark Twain St. Joseph’s hospital in San Andreas for treatment.

DUI Suspect Crashes Vehicle While Being Pursued By CHP Comments Off

According to news sources, a man allegedly driving under the influence was booked into a county jail after leading authorities on a dangerous pursuit that ended with a three-vehicle collision that sent multiple people to the hospital.

The 47-year-old man was reportedly traveling at a high speed when he failed to stop for a California Highway Patrol officer. The CHP officer followed the man in pursuit on Highway 199 when the man’s vehicle disappeared on the roadway.

The man then reportedly lost control of the 1986 Honda CRX he was driving and crashed into a vehicle on the roadway before crossing into opposite lanes and colliding head-on with a 1994 Toyota pickup truck. The two occupants inside the pickup truck managed to exit the vehicle from the rear window after the crash.

The man was pinned in the vehicle until he was extricated. He and everyone else involved in the accident were transported to Sutter Coast Hospital in Crescent City for treatment of their injuries.

The man was reportedly arrested afterwards and booked into the Del Norte County jail.

Man and Woman Injured In Ojai Accident Comments Off

According to news sources, a man and a woman sustained serious injuries in a car crash early Thursday in Ojai after the man reportedly lost control of the vehicle while traveling on Highway 150.

The 32-year-old male driver was traveling east on Highway 150 with a 29-year-old female passenger when the accident took place, investigators said. The man reportedly lost control of the vehicle at Topa Lane and ended up crashing into a power pole on the roadway, the California Highway Patrol said.

As a result of the collision both occupants of the vehicle sustained serious injuries and were reportedly pinned inside the vehicle until they were extricated, the Ventura County Fire Department said.

Both were transported to an area hospital for treatment of their injuries. The CHP said that a child safety seat was also found inside the vehicle at the time however no child was reported to be inside the car when the accident took place.

Suspect Steals Car, Leads CHP on Dangerous Chase Comments Off

According to news sources, a man led authorities on a dangerous car chase Thursday in Modesto after posing as a buyer of a vehicle and subsequently stealing the car before crashing it into a water main and getting arrested.

The suspect managed to steal the Ford Mustang from the owner of the vehicle and sped off on Terminal Avenue, while the owner of the vehicle attempted to follow him in pursuit, the California Highway Patrol said.

Minutes later, the CHP joined in on the pursuit while the owner of the vehicle was instructed by telephone dispatchers to stop following the suspect.

The suspect then crashed into a water main and was ejected from the vehicle. Officials then took the man into custody. He sustained major injuries in the crash and was transported to a hospital for treatment. The man will be booked into a County Jail upon recovery, a CHP officer said.

Bicyclist Seriously Injured on Santiago Canyon Road Comments Off

According to news sources, a bicyclist was seriously injured in an accident Thursday afternoon when she reportedly turned onto the pathway of an oncoming vehicle.

The woman was riding her bicycle on the designated bike lane when the accident took place on Santiago Canyon Avenue at Jamboree Road, an Orange County Police Department official said. The woman then reportedly made an abrupt 90 degree turn onto the pathway of a vehicle traveling on the same roadway.

The collision ejected the woman from the bicycle. The woman was seriously injured as a result of the crash and transported to an area hospital for treatment. She was wearing a helmet when the accident took place, officials said.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the woman was cooperating with officials at the scene of the crash.
