According to news sources, a woman suspected of driving under the influence was arrested after crashing her SUV into a motorcyclist traveling in opposing traffic.
The 40-year-old Mariposa woman was driving a 2008 Hyundai SUV on Highway 140 when she reportedly allowed the vehicle to drift across the double yellow lines towards the eastbound lane, the California Highway Patrol said. A 64-year-old motorcyclist was struck by the vehicle and was ejected from his motorcycle. The man was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash after sustaining fatal injuries.
The woman escaped without injury and was subsequently booked into a county jail. A 9-year-old girl reportedly inside the SUV at the time of the accident was also uninjured in the accident.
As a San Francisco personal injury attorney, I urge you not to get behind the wheel if you’ve been drinking, as often the consequences to you, your loved ones, and to those around you can be much more serious than a DUI. I advise you never to leave the scene of an accident. If you have been injured in a car accident at the fault of someone else, contact a car accident lawyer to help you as soon as possible.
