The Public Safety Committee Chairman considered transforming a bookmobile the county legislation allocated funds to purchase in 2006 for the Clinton-Essex-Franklin Library System into an emergency mobile command and communication center, but legislators voted against taking the truck due to the anticipated expense of converting it into an emergency vehicle.

Commercial trucking safety audit, application procedure modified Comments Off

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has instituted a new application policy for first time trucking applicants allowing them less time to correct any problems with their application. Carrier authorities must pass a safety audit before their applications are approved. If the applicant fails the safety audit, they must submit a corrective action plan within 15 days of the audit under the new policy.

Johnsonville recalls turkey sausage after consumers find glove parts Comments Off

An estimated 48,000 pounds of turkey sausage has been voluntarily recalled by its distributor, Johnsonville Sausage of Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, in cooperation with a request from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. This recall, affecting 13.5 ounce packages of Johnsonville Turkey Sausage with Cheddar Cheese, has been issued following at least two consumer complaints reporting pieces of gloves in the meat.

Man accused of swinding elderly convicted of similar crime in 1997 Comments Off

A Riverside county man recently arrested on charges of elder abuse, grand theft and theft by false pretense was previously found guilty of similar charges in Orange County, according to the Riverside County Sherriff’s Office. Law enforcement officials allege that the man convinced two women in their 70s to loan him thousands of dollars, which he never repaid. The man was convicted of felony grand theft in 1997 for similar charges involving 11 other women, according to law enforcement officials.

Palm Desert commercial vehicle inspections uncover 24 violations Comments Off

Palm Desert law enforcement officers discovered 24 violations during a commercial vehicle inspection this week. California Highway Patrol officers found two dozen violations — including drivers operating commercial vehicles without proper licensing, defective tires, and inadequately secured loads – after conducting 28 inspections. Kentucky nursing home closed after inspectors discover abuse, neglect Comments Off

Golden Years Rest Home in eastern Kentucky was closed in September of 2011 after an investigation conducted by Kentucky Protection & Advocacy revealed that residents reported going without adequate food and water and suffering verbal and in some cases sexual abuse by the facility staff. Inspectors for the advocacy agency also found unsanitary facility conditions such as broken and stained furniture and insufficient supplies of toilet paper, wash cloths, and other necessities.
