What is a Restitution Hearing?

A 41-year-old Roseville man has been sent to prison for three years and four months in a 2009 drunken driving case in which his vehicle went into oncoming traffic and killed two men in another vehicle in a head-on collision as reported by the Roseville and Rocklin Today.  The Judge is still scheduling the hearing for restitution.

What is a restitution hearing?  This is a hearing before a Judge wherein the court orders the defendant to pay money for damages.  Can a person bring a civil personal injury case and also attend a restitution hearing?  The answer is yes.  It is two different proceedings.
